Kantti is a hub of knowledge, stories and interaction in the heart of Kuopio. The renovated Kuopio Museum is connected to the main library by a new building, and together they will form Kantti.

Combining natural sciences, cultural history as well as the library’s collections and services, Kantti serves as a focal point for learning, wonderment and new ideas.

Kuopio City Library

Kuopio City library is committed to providing equal access to library collections, services, and facilities for all library users. The main entrance to the library on Maaherrankatu is accessible, and disabled parking can be found nearby.

Accessible toilets are located in the lobby and at the music department. An induction loop is available at the information desk and in the meeting room on the second floor of the main library. In addition, the library has a wheelchair and a rollator available to customers.

Kuopio Museum

The museum’s premises are mostly accessible. There are several entrances, and the exterior doors are automatic. The building has two accessible elevators. There is an induction loop in the public space, and various accessibility services available for guided tours.

Arriving and accessibility

There is only a short walk from the Kuopio Market Square to Kantti. It is easy to get to Kantti by public transport.

On Museokatu, next to the main entrance of Kuopio Museum, there are two parking spaces for the disabled. Parking spaces for Kantti’s customers are located on Maaherrankatu. In addition, there are paid parking spaces under the market square and along the nearby streets.

Instructions for a safe visit

Please follow these guidelines to keep yourself and others safe and healthy:

  • Practice social distancing and hand hygiene
  • Do not visit Kantti if you are ill
  • Use card payments if possible
  • Groups are requested to inform of their visits in advance
  • If necessary for safety reasons, we limit the number of visitors in the exhibition spaces of Kuopio Museum and in Kantti live events

In Kuopio Museum:

  • Use the indicated routes
  • Do not touch the objects and avoid contact with surfaces

In the Library:

  • Use the self-check machines

We follow government guidelines and update our policies accordingly. Enhanced cleaning is implemented in the premises.
